- this collection you can reach online - it's a little old-fashioned site but here are the directions:
1. go here: http://esavelmat.jyu.fi/tarkennettuhaku.php#list
2. open the 3rd dropdown menu 'kokoelma'
3. select 'kansantanssit'
4. click 'hae' -search icon on the bottom right corner of the window
5. Then you should have access to one of the broadest folk tune collections nationwide put together in 1893. The collection consists of several collectors' archives - the oldest tunes are very likely from the 1750s.
Every title has got a (midi) tickbox and also a little background information section (tiedot).

About the Fiddle
The fiddle, also known as the violin, has a long and rich history that can be traced back to the 16th century in Italy. The instrument was originally designed to be played in orchestras and other classical music settings. However, it soon became popular in folk music traditions around the world, including in regions such as Ireland, Scotland, the Nordic countries, and the Appalachian Mountains in the United States.
